History in a nutshell

 

  • Early 80’s:

Main activity is the production of special effects and scenes for TV programs and feature films.

  • Late 80’s:

Entering the rapidly evolving business sector, the conference and events industry. The company becomes the number one audiovisual and stage-set provider of conventions, events and beauty contests in various hotels, sport arenas and exhibition halls. Main focus moves on to supplying audiovisual and technical equipment for both domestic and international events held in Budapest.

  • 2000:

Special Effects becomes a full-service production company on the local meeting and incentive market providing audiovisual, sound, lighting, stage design and entertainment for events. From this year on the company starts to be the regular audiovisual supplier of major 5-star Budapest hotels and contracted partner of some of them. (Hilton Budapest since 2000, Four Seasons Gresham Palace since 2005, Hilton Budapest Westend since 2008, Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest since 2010). Besides the permanent clients, Special Effects supplies most major hotels and event venues in Budapest (Hungexpo – the largest congress and exhibition center in Budapest, Millenaris Cultural and Science Center) as well as numerous Fortune 500 companies holding their events in Hungary or Europe.

  • 2004:

Acquisition of CRN Hungary Ltd., the market leader in simultaneous interpretation and conference systems rental. CRN is part of the 42-member global Congress Rental Network as well as major seller of built-in audiovisual installations for hotels and conference venues. Entering the international market by servicing return clients on their events outside of Hungary.

  • 2005:

Contracted AV service provider of Four Seasons Gresham Palace and selected AV supplier of Hungexpo, the largest exhibition venue in Hungary.

  • 2007:

25th anniversary. Expansion to the European market.

  • 2008:

Based on the experience and knowledge gained on the European hotel market, event production services extended by international venue finding.

  • 2009:

Opening of the Los Angeles and Berlin offices.

  • 2011:

Tender winner of the official audiovisual supplier of the Hungarian EU Presidency. Over 300 events serviced successfully in the first half of 2011. Establishing the new Installation, Design & Furniture department to offer rental service of quality furniture. An ambicious development plan and the company’s stable financial status guarantee the continuosly growing selection of special, high quality furnitures we rent for any kind events.

  • 2012:

Special Effects Ltd. celebrates its 30th anniversary. The company continues to grow and seek new business opportunities, striving to serve its clients even better and expand its scope of activities.
